2022 Maruti Baleno Launched in India; Price Starts at 6.35 Lakhs

The new Baleno facelift gets major overhauls in most areas

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has rolled out the 2022 Baleno facelift in India, loaded with a slew of new features and refreshed mechanicals. The updated premium hatchback is priced between Rs. 6.35 lakh and Rs. 9.49 lakh, placing it comfortably among its rivals.

2022 Maruti Baleno is available in four variants – Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha – and in six different colours: Opulent Red, Grandeur Grey, Luxe Beige, Pearl Arctic White, Nexa Blue, and Splendid Silver. The Baleno is sold through Nexa dealerships and courtesy of its improved ‘premium’ quotient, the facelift has this even more justified.

The new Baleno measures 3,990 mm in length, 1,745 mm in width, 1,500 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,520 mm. It is larger and more spacious than before.

Maruti has redesigned the front fascia, rear, and interior to give Baleno a new look. The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno has a redesigned front grille, headlamps with new LED DRLs, a wider central inlet, and a new design for foglamp housing. On the rear end, Baleno features new tail lamps, a tailgate, and a redesigned bumper. Maruti has also changed the design of the 16-inch dual-tone alloys.

New Baleno Interior

On the inside, Baleno 2022 gets a new dashboard, revised central console, new instrument cluster, and a floating touchscreen infotainment system. The nine-inch unit offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The cabin also gets a new dual-tone colorway of Black and deep Blue.

The facelifted Baleno also gets a segment-first head-up display, 360-degree camera, and cruise control. Other notable features include a restyled steering wheel with audio controls, Arkamys audio system, height-adjustable driver seat, UV-cut glass, six airbags, rear AC vents, Suzuki Connect tech, and automatic climate control.

2022 Baleno Specifications

Under its hood, the new Baleno gets a 90hp K12N DualJet petrol engine capable of producing 113Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox as standard, while a five-speed AMT is also available. The key change here is the AMT replacing the CVT unit on the previous car. With this, the fuel efficiency is expected to go up on the automatics. The prices have already come down from those of the CVT-equipped car.

The car is also claimed to have improved on safety with a stronger shell and a bunch of safety equipment on offer including six airbags.
