The new Hyundai Verna has just been launched at a handsome price
Putting an end to anticipations brought about by several teasers, scoops and spottings, Hyundai Motor India has finally launched the new Hyundai Verna here. The model is expected to bring the winds back into the sedan space, and the market placement seems to do just the same. The 2023 Hyundai Verna is available with NA and turbocharged petrol engines, in a total of 10 variants and priced in the 10.90 – 17.37 lakh ( ex-showroom and introductory). Design
The new Verna could be the best-looking sedan in its class. It is built on Hyundai’s new-age ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design philosophy. The manufacturer calls this the ‘new Hyundai face’. Verna 2023 looks sporty and futuristic. The Korean marque has admitted that the base thought for this design came from something sci-fi like a spaceship.
Key design highlights of the new 6th generation Verna include sleek headlamps, with full-width LED positioning lamps and DRLs, a parametric grille with touches of Chrome on it, a clean fastback silhouette, Z-shaped character lines, 16-inch alloy wheels, multiple touches of Satin Chrome, parametric connected LED tail lamps, and a neatly integrated sharkfin antenna.
2023 Hyundai Verna Colours
The new Verna comes in a total of 9 colourways- 7 mono tones and 2 dual tones. Below are the mono-tone colours:

The two dual-tone colours offered on Hyundai Verna 2023 include Fiery Red Dual Tone and Atlas White Dual Tone. Both these get the primary shades on the exterior and the roof finished in Black.
2023 Hyundai Verna Dimensions
The new Verna is larger than the one it replaces. It is now longer, with a longer wheelbase and wider, even when it remains unchanged in overall height. Below are the exact dimensions of the car.

The new Verna is now the widest in its class (36 mm wider than before)- and the same translates to more room on the inside, especially at the rear seat, and a large boot that can hold 528 liters facilitating easy loading. The largest-in- class wheelbase (70 mm more than the previous car) also adds to this.
Interior
The new Verna gets a good-looking, futuristic design for its cabin. The design has numerous premium and luxurious bits at multiple places- like soft touch trims, premium leather upholstery, leather wrapped steering and gear knob, etc. The new Verna gets a Black-Beige dual tone as its cabin colour scheme. The Verna Turbo variants come with all Black cabin with Red inserts.
The cabin gets a driver-oriented design and comes with a connected, curved display cluster- comprising the large infotainment touchscreen and digital instrumentation.
New Hyundai Verna Features
Much like its predecessors, the new Verna also comes packed with features. Equipment on offer includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen, premium BOSE audio, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa integration, ambient lighting, selectable drive modes- Normal, Eco & Sport, digital instrument cluster with small MID- borrowed straight from the Kia Carens, ventilated and heated seats, powered driver seat ( first in class), voice-enabled smart sunroof, single-zone climate control, wireless charger, headlamp escort function, automatic headlamps, smart key and cruise control.
One major attraction inside is the switchable controller unit for the AC and infotainment systems, which switches the touch panel between these, at the press of a button.
New Verna Specifications: Engines And Gearboxes
The new Verna is available in a total of 4 powertrain combinations- 1.5 MPi naturally aspirated petrol engine and a newly developed 1.5 TGDi turbo petrol engine, the first mated to a 6-speed manual and iVT, and the latter mated to 7 DCT and 6MT.
The NA petrol engine (Read our review for more details) on the Verna produces 115 PS and 144 Nm. The turbo petrol engine, is a new 1.5 L unit, producing 160 hp and 253 Nm. Hyundai claims this engine to offer an ARAI-certified mileage of up to 20 kpl. The Verna Turbo is claimed to do 0-100 kph in just 8.1 seconds- performance benchmark?

2023 Hyundai Verna Price And Variants
There are a total of 4 trims available on the Verna 2023- EX, S, SX, and SX (O). The lower EX and S trims are only available with manual transmissions, while the iVT automatic is available on the SX and SX(O) trimlines. Verna Turbo is available on the SX and SX (O) trims alone. Both these trims offer the choice of 6MT and 7DCT gearboxes. Thus, there are a total of 10 variants on offer on the new Verna- 6 variants on the NA engine and 4 on the turbo models.
