The new Sportster S is a nod to the 1957 Sportster series
Harley-Davidson has launched the new Sportster S in India, priced at Rs. 15.51 lakh, ex-showroom. A reboot of the US manufacturer’s 1957 Sportster series, the new Sportster S was launched at the India Bike Week in Pune, amidst much fanfare.
Sportster S is the second motorcycle Harley-Davidson launching in India in 2021. Earlier this year, they launched the Pan America 1250 in India, which happens to be the brand’s first ever ADV.
Borrowing the liquid-cooled, V-twin of Pan America 1250, Harley-Davidson Sportster S offers 119.3 bhp and 127.4Nm. The bike has a six-speed transmission, and a slipper clutch. The Sportster S has a fuel capacity of 11.8 liters and weighs 228 kilograms.
It comes with All-LED lighting, Adjustable Performance suspension, and Cruise Control. The Sportster S offers four riding modes; three pre-programmed – Sport, Rain, and Road, and a custom mode. The high-mounted exhaust pipes deflect heat away from the rider’s legs.
Other notable features include a 4.0 inch TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity, Cornering Anti-Lock Braking System (C-ABS), and Cornering Traction Control System (C-TCS).
The bike is fitted with 5-spoke cast-aluminum 17-inch tires at the front and 16-inchers at the rear. The motorcycle is available in three colors: Midnight Crimson, Vivid Black, and Stone Wash White Pearl. Harley has started accepting bookings for the Sportster S. Expect the deliveries to begin later this month.
