Just 200 units of the Onam Edition cars will be made
Volkswagen India has launched a state-specific, limited-run, special edition on the Virtus sedan and Taigun SUV. Christened the ‘Onam edition’, this special edition will be exclusive to Kerala, and aims to boost sales during the festive season. VW Onam edition cars will be limited to just 200 units, making an even split of 100 between the sedan and the SUV. It is the first time that VW is making a state-spec special edition.

Volkswagen Onam Edition Highlights
The most important highlight of Volkswagen Onam edition cars is their all-Black paint. Black is an exclusive colour on modern-day Volkswagens in India. The Virtus Onam Edition does not get Black paint on its wheels, while the Onam edition Taigun has Blacked-out wheels as well. Keralites love Black cars- a fact that led VW to paint the Kerala-spec edition in the shade.
The cars also get more tech and features compared to regular GT line. Additions include front parking sensors, wind door visor, dual tone horn and puddle lamps.
The Virtus and Taigun are available with 1.0L TSI and 1.5TSI engines. Available transmissions include MT and AT with the smaller engine and MT and DSG with the 1.5 mill. It is just the 1.0L model lineup that gets the Onam special edition.
