Hyundai Creta EV Spotted Testing In India

The Creta EV is most likely to debut globally at the 2025 Auto Expo

Hyundai has begun working on the 2025 market-targeted all-electric version of the Creta SUV. For the first time, spy shots are out on the internet, which seem to be of the first prototype of the Hyundai Creta EV. The vehicle was spotted on the outskirts of Chennai. The project codenamed as SU2i will see series production in 2024 and will reportedly make its global debut in the next Auto Expo in 2025.

The test mule looks almost identical to the current-gen Creta, with an unfamiliar bump under the body, which indicates the inclusion of the battery pack. It was spotted near an EV charging station, further confirming this assumption of it being an EV. Hyundai hasn’t revealed the powertrain details of this SUV yet. Information about the battery pack is also unclear.

Currently, Hyundai sells 2 electric vehicles in the Indian market – Ioniq 5 and Kona electric. The Creta EV will make its debut at the 2025 Auto Expo and will be in the market in the same year itself. The new SUV is expected to be built on the heavily localised E-GMP platform, which will be used for both domestic and global markets.
According to reports, the Creta EV will be priced around Rs.15 lakh to 30 lakh and will be rivalling the upcoming Maruti Suzuki EVX and Kia Seltos EV.
