Jaguar I Pace SUV Bags The ‘German Car of the Year’ (GCOTY) Title !

Jaguar’s first electric performance SUV beats 58 of its mighty rivals hands down to grab the title!

The I Pace SUV, the first fully electric vehicle (EV) from Jaguar is one such car that has been ammassing huge amount of fan following since its inception and we have been liking it as well. Things have now gottten more beefy for the fans of this ‘green SUV’ as the I Pace has now won the year’s German Car Of The Year (GCOTY) award, post slaying around 58 mighty rivals.

A jury of 12 expert journos had in-depth comparison tests done between 59 cars before awarding the I Pace the title. The SUV’s groundbreaking blend of driving dynamics, performance and style had all impressed them so much as to cast loads of points on the car and finally make it grab the title.

Jens Meiners, German Car of the Year Award jury member and spokesman, said: “The Jaguar I-PACE is not only the first premium electric vehicle from an established manufacturer, it also makes uncompromising use of the advantages of an electrified vehicle architecture.”

“Its performance is impressive, and its design and practicality stand out, which is why the I-PACE ultimately was the winner against strong competition.”

The EV, after getting shortlisted in the top 5, was examined extensively on grounds of design, performance, ride, handling, future viability and general relevance, both on the road and at the Bilster Berg circuit.

Accepting the award, Prof. Dr. Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover CEO, said: “We are extremely proud to receive this honour from the German media for our first fully electric vehicle, the Jaguar I-PACE. To get such an award in the homeland of premium brands is very precious.”

The I-PACE has also been shortlisted for the Women’s World Car of the Year Award, along with its sister car the E-PACE compact performance SUV. The winner will be announced on 12 November.
