The Kawasaki Meguro K3 is based on the W800 available in India
Speaking of Japanese motorcycle history we can’t miss out on one of the first Japanese motorcycle companies, the Meguro. In 1964 Meguro dissolved into Kawasaki and is responsible for Kawasaki’s entrance into motorcycle manufacturing. Kawasaki’s retro motorcycles we see today have the Meguro DNA in it. Now Kawasaki has revived the Meguro brand name in Japan with the Meguro K3, based on the Kawasaki W800.
Meguro K3 gets distinctive styling elements, including chromed out circular headlamp and rearview mirrors, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, single-piece seat, black fenders up front and rear, vintage dual exhaust pipes, spoked wheels, dual-pod instrumentation, etc. As a person who admires retro-styled bikes, I totally love its looks.
The double cradle frame along with the conventional swingarm is suspended on 41mm telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The bike gets a 320mm front and 270mm rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS. The fuel tank capacity is pretty standard at 15L and Meguro K3 weighs about 227Kg.'
This well laid out retro-motorcycle is powered by a 773cc air-cooled SOHC inline twin cylinder mill, churning out 52hp at 6500rpm and 62.9Nm of torque at 4800rpm, mated to a 5 speed transmission.
Meguro K3 is priced at JPY. 12,76000 (approximately Rs. 9 lakh). There are no words on whether Meguro K3 will make it to international markets or not. But if expanding the horizons, India might possibly get this Japanese history piece as well.
