Luxeed V9 EREV MPV Revealed In Images: To Get Helmet Airbag, 1,200km Range And Oxygen Generator

The Luxeed V9 EREV MPV has officially been revealed in images, and it’s easily one of the most tech-heavy people movers we’ve seen yet. Jointly developed by China’s Chery and Huawei under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), the V9 brings some genuinely unusual features to the MPV space, including a helmet-style airbag, and even an onboard oxygen generator. It even has a claimed range of 1,200 km.

The Luxeed V9 is expected to launch in China in the first quarter of this year, with prices likely to sit between 400,000 and 500,000 yuan, roughly translating to USD 57,000–72,000. It’s clearly aimed at high-end family buyers and executive users, taking on rivals like the Li Auto Mega, Zeekr 009, and Voyah Dreamer.

Futuristic Design

Visually, the Luxeed V9 follows the brand’s latest design language. Up front, it gets a closed-off fascia, sharp headlamp clusters similar to the Luxeed R7, and diamond-shaped lighting elements inside the headlights. A slim chrome strip runs beneath the full-width light bar, while the actual grille sits lower down.

At the rear, it features a wide LED taillight that also integrates blue indicator lights. These illuminate when the advanced driver-assistance system is active, making the tech visible even to cars behind. Electric sliding doors come as standard across the lineup.

Gets Lounge-Like Cabin With Wild Features

Inside is where the Luxeed V9 really leans into luxury and tech. It uses a 2+2+3 seating layout and comes with dual zero-gravity second-row seats. These seats get leg rests, extra support, and can rotate up to 180 degrees, turning the cabin into a mobile lounge.

The feature list is extensive. Buyers get triple screens up front, a roof-mounted entertainment screen, a built-in refrigerator, and an oxygen generator for improved cabin comfort. Huawei’s HarmonyOS-powered cockpit runs the entire system, paired with the Qiankun ADS advanced driving suite.

The most unusual feature, however, is the helmet airbag. In the event of a collision, the seats automatically move into a safer position while the helmet-style airbag deploys along with the side airbags, offering added head and neck protection.

Big MPV Proportions

The Luxeed V9 is a full-size MPV by any standard. It measures 5,359 mm long, 2,009 mm wide, and 1,879 mm tall, with a long 3,250 mm wheelbase. These dimensions put it firmly in the same class as China’s largest luxury MPVs, with plenty of room for all three rows.

Range-Extender Powertrain With 1,200 km Range

Powering the Luxeed V9 is Huawei’s “Snow Owl Intelligent Silent Range Extension System.” It uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine purely as a generator, paired with dual electric motors. The engine itself produces 154 horsepower.

Battery options include a 37.0 kWh lithium iron phosphate pack and a larger 53.3 kWh ternary lithium battery, both supplied by CATL. Depending on the variant, the V9 offers pure electric ranges of 158 km, 210 km, or 223 km under WLTC conditions. With the range extender factored in, Huawei claims a total driving range of up to 1,200 km.

The MPV also rides on Huawei’s DriveONE 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform, allowing for better efficiency and faster charging.

The Message Is Clear!

With its bold feature list and heavy Huawei tech integration, the Luxeed V9 isn’t trying to play it safe. Whether it ever reaches markets outside China remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the Luxeed V9 shows just how far the MPV category is being pushed when tech companies and automakers work side by side.
