The 5-door Thar will debut on August 15th
There is a lot of buzz around the upcoming 5-door Thar aka Mahindra Thar Roxx. A new set of spy shots have now surfaced, ahead of its August 15 debut. The new images show the side view of Thar Roxx without any camo, revealing key design details.T These seem to have been shot during TVC shoots. Let’s discuss the Thar Roxx side view in detail.
Mahindra Thar Roxx side view: First Impressions
This is the first time that the side design is seen completely undisguised. There is a notable increase in wheelbase. The Roxx has 300mm of additional wheelbase, indicating more cabin room and better features. The SUV also has a new set of wheels and wider running boards. The chunky wheel arches get slight design tweaks compared to those on the 3-door Thar. The wide fenders also add to the vehicle’s imposing stance. The SUV rides on dual-purpose tyres and will come with 4×4 hardware.
The roof design, as suggested by this spy picture, seems polarising to an extent. It tends to arch up towards the B pillar, to make for more head-room on the inside. The designs of the C and D pillars are unconventional as well. The rear door handles have unusual placements. There is also an odd-shaped rear quarter glass, which could, in real life, be of much use in making the cabin less claustrophobic.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Design: Other Details We Know About It
Thar Roxx will have a design that unmistakably looks like a Thar. There will be a new set of LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, C-shaped tail lamps, revised grille and hood designs, latched hood, skid plates, and tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Interior And Features
The interior is expected to be significantly roomier than the 3-door’s. There will be a lot of creature comforts, tech and features on offer. Expect large infotainment screen, ventilated front seats, 10.25-inch instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, wireless charger, 360 camera, auto-dimming IRVM, and ADAS. The 5-door Thar Roxx will also have a panoramic sunroof on the top variant and single pane sunroofs on the mid variants.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Expected Specifications
The Thar Roxx might feature three engine options: 1.5L diesel, 2.2L diesel, and 2.0L turbo petrol. It’s anticipated to come with 6MT and 6AT transmissions. The vehicle will be available in both four-wheel drive (4WD) and rear-wheel drive (RWD) iterations, and in several trims. It is set to compete with the Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha 5-door. The starting price is expected to be around Rs 16 lakh.
