The XUV will now be able to battler the updated Harrier and Safari
There’s buzz about upcoming updates to the Mahindra XUV700 as a leaked manual hints at some interesting changes in the pipeline. Since its launch in August 2021, Mahindra’s flagship SUV hasn’t received any significant updates, but it seems Mahindra is gearing up to introduce new features and alterations early next year.
At present, Mahindra XUV700 offers 5-seater and 7-seater variants, both equipped with bench seats for the second row. Notably, captain seats haven’t been available since its debut, unlike competitors like the Tata Safari, Toyota Innova, and Mahindra Scorpio N getting this option.

Leaks from the manual suggest an upcoming introduction of comfortable captain seats with individual armrests. These will be adjustable and offer recline function, providing enhanced comfort on long journeys. However, opting for captain seats may reduce overall seating capacity, posing a dilemma for buyers.
Another anticipated update is the inclusion of an auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror. This features electric anti-glare auto adjustment with an on/off switch, photo sensor, indicator light, and brightness switch. This will prove beneficial for night driving, effectively adjusting reflection rates based on light intensity, and combating the glare from high beams often encountered on Indian roads.
These changes and feature additions will make it possible for the XUV 700 to compete more vigorously with the updated Tata Safari and Harrier.
The engine options are expected to remain unchanged- 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbo petrol. Additionally, Mahindra is also testing the all-electric version of XUV700, with an anticipated range of up to 500 km.
