The EV is expected to return up to 450km in range
JSW MG Motor India has announced that its upcoming EV will be called ‘MG Windsor’ in India. The manufacturer will be bringing its third EV to India in the coming weeks. The vehicle will battle the likes of Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 400 here.
- Windsor will sit below the ZS EV.
- Could come with two battery packs to choose from.
- Could be priced under 20 lakh.
As stated in a previous article, MG has chosen to name the vehicle differently. The upcoming EV has now been christened ‘MG Windsor’. The name derives from the British architectural masterpiece Windsor Castle. The EV is expected to come with exemplary craftsmanship and a plush cabin experience. It is claimed to blend elegant, classy craftsmanship seamlessly with modern technology.
However, MG Windsor would have a high degree of localisation and differ slightly in spec and design, from the Wuling Cloud EV sold abroad. MG is pitching it as India’s first Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV).
MG Windsor EV could come with two battery packs. Specifications are yet to surface. The extended range version could offer up to 450 km in range. The regular could deliver around 360 km.
Essentially an electric MPV, or a CUV as the manufacturer calls it, the Windsor is expected to be priced aggressively. It could be priced under 20 lakh ex-showroom. In MG India’s lineup, it will sit between the Comet EV and ZS EV.
