MG Windsor To Debut On September 11

The Windsor will be pitched as a Nexon EV rival

JSW MG Motor India is all set to launch its new midsize electric vehicle- the MG Windsor EV, on September 11, 2024, as suggested by an official invite. The Windsor EV has been teased multiple times and is said to be a sedan-SUV blend- the comfort of a sedan with the expanse of an SUV. This zero-emission vehicle will slot in between the Comet and ZS EV in the manufacturer’s domestic lineup.

The MG Windsor EV, as seen in the teasers, looks like the ‘Cloud EV’ with almost identical design elements except for the branding. The model will be heavily localised, for the Indian market. A recent teaser video shows that the Windsor will come with ‘Aero-Lounge’ seats that recline up to 135° for enhanced comfort for both short city commutes and long trips, says the brand.

Inspired by Windsor Castle, the MG Windsor EV’s cabin is all about ergonomics and aesthetics, says MG. This spacious interior along with the aerodynamic design is meant to provide a comfortable and stylish experience. The EV will be suitable for city streets and narrower roads in smaller towns, it will be versatile in various driving conditions. But the full features and design will be revealed closer to the launch.

MG says the Windsor EV’s high ground clearance helps in tackling potholes, speed bumps and rough terrains for a smoother and more comfortable driving experience. The front design has a unique bulbous LED headlamp cluster, an illuminated logo and a horizontal light bar that connects the sharp LED DRLs giving the EV a modern look.

Notable design elements of the Windsor EV are a spacious greenhouse visible from the sides, a quarter glass area, sloping front and rear windscreens, an integrated spoiler, a large sunroof and LED tail lamps connected by a light bar. Inside the cabin, you’ll find a large touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster, connected car technology and a flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls.

MG Windsor is based on the E260 EV platform. Globally the Cloud EV comes with two battery pack options: 37.9 kWh and 50.6 kWh. The Cloud EV has a range of up to 460 km in international markets and a similar range is expected for the India spec.
