Mumbai Rains: IndiGo And Akasa Air Issue Travel Advisories

Airlines have issued fresh travel advisories for passengers flying out, following heavy Mumbai rains. On Wednesday, IndiGo and Akasa Air both urged travellers to leave early for the airport, warning of delays and road congestion caused by the downpour.

IndiGo posted a detailed advisory on X, asking passengers to factor in extra travel time. “Heavy traffic has been reported on several roads across Delhi and Mumbai, especially on main routes to the airport,” the airline said. “If you’re flying today, we recommend planning ahead and leaving earlier than usual.”

IndiGo also reminded customers that they can check real-time flight updates through the airline’s app or website. “Our airport teams are ready to help you once you arrive,” the airline added.

Akasa Air shared a similar message, warning of slow-moving traffic and possible delays on roads leading to the airport due to the rain. “To ensure a smooth travel experience, we request you to leave early,” the airline said. A flight status link was also provided for live updates.

The warnings come as Mumbai experienced heavy showers on Wednesday morning, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting more rainfall throughout the week. A yellow alert has been issued for the city and nearby districts. The forecast also mentions strong winds alongside the rain.

According to the IMD, Mumbai and its suburbs can expect cloudy skies and intermittent heavy showers. Wind speeds could reach up to 40 to 50 kmph in some areas.

Tidal activity is also being monitored closely. A high tide of 4.40 meters is expected at 11:09 AM, followed by another at 10:57 PM measuring 3.75 meters. A low tide will occur at 5:10 PM with a height of 1.84 meters. The next low tide is expected at 5:06 AM on July 24 at just 0.50 meters.

Travellers are advised to monitor updates and allow for extra time while heading to the airport during this period of unstable weather.
