Nissan To Launch Triber-Based MPV | All Details

The Nissan MPV could come with the 100PS, 1-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Kiger and Magnite.

Renault Triber was launched in 2019 as a replacement for the Lodgy. It is still the most affordable 7-seater crossover in the Indian market. The Triber is spacious, safe and reliable. Moreover, the Triber scored a decent four-star safety rating at GNCAP crash tests (2021 regulations). Now Nissan is going to introduce its version of the Triber, courtesy of the ongoing alliance with Renault .

The Triber 7-seater is a sub-four meter MPV crossover with two removable seats in the third row. With the 3rd row folded, Triber offers more luggage space than any other MPV in this segment, 625 litres. With a starting price of Rs.6.34 lakhs, the Triber is not exactly a luxurious MPV. Still, it offers features such as an 8-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, 3rd row AC vents, etc. The safety features of the vehicle include four airbags, traction control, ESP, HSA(Hill Start Assist) and tyre pressure monitor, etc. The vehicle’s NA 1L petrol engine makes 72PS and 96Nm, mated to either a five speed manual or AMT.

The Nissan version of the Triber wont be an exact replica of the outgoing model. It is likely to be based on the Triber facelift, which is ready for launch. The new Triber and its Nissan version will get feature updates like LED lighting, digital infotainment system, etc. The 1L turbo petrol engine from the Kiger and Magnite SUV might be also available in the facelift. The Nissan would also inherit the same powertrain and features of the facelifted Triber. There is still no official confirmaton of the launch timeline of the Nissan MPV in India yet. But it is expected to arrive by mid-2024, and could be priced from around Rs. 6.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The Nissan MPV will rival hatchbacks like the Grand i10, Maruti Suzuki Swift as well as the Renault sibling.
