Possible rival to the i20 N Line!
Update: Tata Altroz Racer Could Launch By Early June!
Tata Motors has taken wraps off the Altroz Racer at the ongoing Auto Expo. It’s a sportier, more fun-to-drive rendition of the Altroz, aimed at locking horns with the Hyundai i20 N Line, something that a hoonigan would appreciate!
Visually, the Altroz Racer gets a sporty loud design and features like an electrically adjustable sunroof with voice assist; contrast black bonnet, a-pillars, roof panel, side window surround, and rear spoiler; racing-style centre stripes in white, RACER badges on the front fenders, and a more prominent tailgate-integrated spoiler with a shark fin. Tata hasn’t made any changes to the bodywork. Even the headlights, the wheels, and the chrome parts on the standard car are blacked out on the Racer variant.

On the inside, Tata Altroz Racer gets a brand new 10.25-inch central Infotainment touchscreen with a new interface, a new 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, all-black upholstery with contrast red stitching, red and white racing stripes running down the centre of the seats, “Racer” embossing on the headrests, six airbags, air purifier, wireless charger, and ventilated front seats as standard.
The Altroz Racer packs the same 1.2L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine as the Altroz iTurbo, which now churns out 120 HP and 170Nm of Torque- 10 HP and 30Nm more than the iTurbo. It’ll come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. There’s no confirmation of the Altroz Racer getting the 6-speed dual clutch automatic. Tata is currently evaluating the Altroz Racer for launch in India. Upon launch, it’ll be a jolt for the Hyundai i20 N Line.
