Here’s the first product based on Tata’s new Pure EV platform- Acti-EV
Tata Motors has launched its newest electric vehicle for the Indian market- the Tata Punch EV. Introductory prices for the electric Punch start at ₹ 10.99 lakh ex-showroom. The Punch.EV is available in four variants: Smart, adventure, Empowered and Empowered+. The range-topping variant has an ex-showroom price of ₹ 14.49 lakh, at launch. Bookings are already underway for a token amount of Rs 21,000 and deliveries are expected to begin next month.
The Punch EV is the fourth EV offering from the homegrown automotive major. It is also the second model to offer powertrain choices of petrol, CNG and all-electric. More importantly, it is the first product to be underpinned by Tata Motors’ new pure EV architecture – Acti-EV.

Tata Punch EV Specifications
According to Tata, the new architecture is much safer and is constructed with high-strength materials. The new EV platform has also been modified to allow for more room inside the vehicle. Ground clearance is kept at 190 mm and there is a ramp over the angles to maintain the performance of the Punch SUV on difficult tracks.
Battery, Range And More!
Tata has come up with mid-range and long-range versions of the punch EV. The mid-range battery pack has a capacity of 25kWh and the long-range has a 35kWh unit. The new battery packs are wider and have higher-density cells which help in increasing the range of the EV by about 10 percent.
Tata claims that the regular-range variant of the punch EV offers up to 315 km range on a single charge. The long-range version can go up to 421 km on every full-charge.
Tata Punch EV has two charging options- a 7.2kW fast home charger and a 50kW DC fast charging. According to Tata, the EV can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in less than an hour. The regular EV’s powertrain is capable of producing 80 bhp and 114 Nm, while the long-range version churns out 120 hp and 190 Nm. 0-100 kph comes in 9 seconds and the EV has a top speed of 140 kph.

Features
The electric version of Tata Punch comes packed with features. It gets slightly more features and tech than its petrol and CNG counterparts. Notable additions include Leatherette seats, Seat ventilation for the front row, air purifier, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an optional sunroof (costs an extra ₹50,000), and an all-digital instrument cluster.
The electric Punch also packs features like Wireless charging, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera, Blind spot monitoring, an extensive array of Safety features and tech (6 airbags standard across variants), and an Electronic Parking Brake.
Design, Dimensions And Colours
The dimensions of the SUV remain the same as the ICE and CNG variants. However, the design of the SUV remains the same. The Punch.EV adopts a similar front fascia design as the Nexon EV. The SUV gets LED DRL at the front along with slim LED headlights. The closed grille has been replaced by a new 16-inch alloy design. The Punch EV is India’s first electric car to have a frunk, which is a storage compartment underneath the bonnet. The boot capacity of the punch EV is 14 litres, which is more than the standard boot capacity of 366 litres.
