Tata Nexon facelift will have a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel with a backlit Tata logo
Facelift of the Tata Nexon is due for launch this August. The vehicle was spotted testing several times with heavy camouflage. Now images of the interior of the facelifted Nexon has been surfaced in the internet for the first time. The facelift will be heavily inspired from the Curvv concept from Tata Motors, which they showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year. Both exterior and the interior will have characters similar to the Curvv and possible updation of the equipment levels and quality is also expected.
The latest spy images reveal a noticeable feature in the form of a flat-bottom steering wheel with two spokes, resembling the one present in the Curvv concept. This steering wheel incorporates toggle switches on either end and multiple touch-sensitive haptic buttons. The highlight of this concept steering wheel is the backlit Tata logo that blends in seamlessly, although its inclusion in the final production model is yet to be confirmed.
The centre console of the upcoming Tata car has been partially revealed, displaying a fresh design that incorporates a touch panel and toggle switches for controlling the HVAC ( Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning ) system, an arrangement directly inspired by the Curvv concept. The car will come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, which indicates that the entire dashboard may have redesign revamp, potentially resulting in higher quality materials and increased equipment levels. Additionally, a new digital instrument cluster, currently featured in the latest Harrier and Safari Red Dark editions, may also be included .
The lower centre console area of the vehicle is easily noticeable, but it seems to have been left mostly unchanged. The drive mode selector doesn’t get any design change, while the gear lever has undergone a slight redesign. The manual handbrake and wireless charger seems to have no change. The spy images also offer a sneak peek of new purple seat upholstery.
Along with many other manufacturers, Tata has reportedly upgraded all of its models, including the Nexon, to comply with the BS 6 Phase 2 emissions norms. The upcoming Nexon facelift is expected to introduce a brand new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. This was also previewed with the Curvv ICE concept. This engine boasts a power output of 125hp and a peak torque of 225Nm, which is 5hp and 55Nm higher than the current engine. The Nexon facelift will also retain the existing 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. Details about the automatic transmission options for the Nexon facelift are currently unavailable.
According to reports, Tata Motors plans to commence series production for the Nexon facelift in July 2023, with an estimated combined production target of 15,000 units for the petrol and diesel variants. The Nexon EV facelift is also slated to enter production around the same time, with an expected monthly production target of 5,000 units.
The prices for the upcoming Nexon facelift are expected to be announced in August 2023, and it is anticipated to carry a higher price tag compared to the current model, which retails between Rs 7.80 lakh and Rs 14.35 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will compete against other popular compact SUVs such as the Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, and Maruti Brezza.
