2020 Hyundai i20: What To Expect From It?

The latest images of the upcoming Hyundai i20 hatchback have surfaced recently. Here’s what you would need to expect from the car


Hyundai has finally disclosed the new generation i20, to be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show. Here is a quick bite on what Hyundai has come up with, in the next generation i20 :

Hyundai has flawlessly integrated style, architecture and technology in the all-new i20. The cascading grille, swept-back headlamps and LED DRLs up the front fascia along with the lowered roofline, wider and longer built body, all-new 17-inch alloy wheels and an increased wheelbase adds up the style. The i20 comes painted in Intense Blue, Aurora Gray, Aqua Turquoise and Brass , while the Phantom Black roof offers a dual-tone choice as well.

The cabin neatly designed in dark theme comes with a myriad of new features. A 10.25 inches twin-screen – an all-digital instrument cluster and a touch screen infotainment system with a split-screen option for multitasking is merged into the dashboard in a driver-friendly manner. Wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cordless charging pad in the centre console, USB charging slots at the rear, premium Bose audio system with 8-speakers are some other noteworthy features.

Reduced beltline and quarter-fixed small glass window behind the rear door to enhance driver visibility along with an increased boot space is offered on the new i20. Hyundai offers the Blue link connected car option on the 2020 i20 as well. Hyundai’s Smart sense safety package that includes Navigation Based Cruise Control and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, eCall, semi-autonomous parking assist are the other salient features.

The next-generation i20 might come with a 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrain option, aiming at a 3-4% reduction in fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions as well. Details on the engines are yet to surface. A 1.0 Turbo  GDi engine is on offer in the European markets and thus might also make its way to India as well. There are two transmission options- a six-speed manual and 7 DCT on offer for this mill in the international markets. However, the regular 1.2L MPi mill would come with just a five-speed box.
