The Skoda Superb facelift gets numerous design changes, interior upgrades, and a new 2.0L engine.
The Superb has been the flagship sedan of Skoda India for long. This executive sedan has now gotten a significant upgrade here. The Skoda Superb 2020, originally showcased at the previous Delhi Auto Expo, has now been launched in the country at INR 29.90 lakh.
Changes in the new Superb are numerous. The styling has evidently been enhanced quite a bit. The front and rear ends have been retouched so well that both of them now look classier than before. Stylish new LED Matrix headlamps now find a place in the sedan, which gets LED fog lights as well. The tail lamps too are LED units and the rear gets the ‘Skoda’ lettering instead of a conventional logo, in keeping with the company’s modern-day design strategy. The alloy wheel design is also new and looks quite stunning on the car.
Quite a few changes have happened on the inside as well. A new touchscreen infotainment unit with connected car technologies comes integrated into the dash of the new Superb. There are also stuff like a stylish new digital instrument cluster, wireless charging bay, optional virtual cockpit, sunroof, ambient lighting, park assist, etc on offer. The facelifted Superb also gets a 360 Degree camera unit, that proves to be of great use in the modern day driving scenes.
The changes on the mechanical front are just epic! The 1.8L petrol engine of the older car is no more. Replacing it is a smart 2.0L four-cylinder TSI turbo petrol unit that can churn out as much as 190Hp and 320Nm and is BS6 compliant as well! The transmission unit remains the same 7 speed DSG from Volkswagen Group. The car has a reported top speed of 230kmph. Totally in keeping with VW group’s diesel-phobia for the future, it has done away familiar 2.0L diesel unit of its predecessor.
The 2020 Skoda Superb facelift has just the recently launched Toyota Camry BS6 as its rival in the current scenario.
