The wait for the BS6 Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI has come to an end. Here is what you need to know about it…
Skoda had showcased a turbocharged 1.0 TSI powered version of the Skoda Rapid sedan at the previous Delhi Auto Expo and we have been waiting for the official launch of the same ever since. The carmaker has now launched the new Rapid 1.0 TSI in India at an attractive price. The Rapid 1.0 TSI is available in five different variants and the base ‘Rider’ trim is priced at INR 7.29 lakh. The range-topping Monte Carlo trim can go up to INR 11.79 lakh in price.
The key attraction of the new Skoda Rapid is indeed its engine. The car’s 1.0 TSI unit stands in place of the older 1.6L NA engine, but with a significant hike in the net output. The three-cylinder unit is capable of producing 110 PS and 175 Nm in its BS6 iteration. The Rapid temporarily misses out on the 7 DSG and gets just the six-speed manual box for the time being. Sources confirm that the DSG would soon follow. The present combination is said to return an economy of 18.97km/l.
The equipment and feature lists have also been slightly refreshed in the new Rapid. There are automatic climate control, LED DRLs, 16 inch alloy wheels, leather seats, rear AC vents, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Mirrorlink, etc on offer. The car gets 4 airbags, ABS, and EBD to add to the safety.
Key rivals of the new Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI in India include the upcoming Honda City and the new Hyundai Verna.
