The all new Force Gurkha comes with a more comfortable cabin and uncompromised capabilities
Force Motors today revealed the all-new 2021 Force Gurkha SUV. The Gurkha has been enjoying decent recognition as a niche product since its inception. The new model builds further on this legacy and raises the ante further. The production-spec Gurkha revealed now stays close to the prototype shown previously at the Auto Expo. The manufacturer is known to launch the new Gurkha on September 27, and the deliveries are said to start next month.
2021 Force Gurkha: Key Highlights
The overall design and layout remain unchanged from the previous car, as was observed on the show car as well. However, some areas of its design have been reworked. The headlamps now get LEDs and DRLs integrated into them, the grille has refreshed elements and a prominent ‘Gurkha’ badging, bumpers reworked and there are larger rear windows (which Force Motors calls ‘Panoramic Windows’). The rear windshield has grown in size and gets slight tweaks in its design. The new Gurkha retains the factory-fitted snorkel, something that has always stood iconic on this model.

Changes inside the cabin are more pronounced. The new Gurkha has a reworked dashboard, front-facing second row, and a couple of creature comforts such as a touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering gets tilt and telescopic adjustments and there are individual armrests for the rear seats. Other notable features include a couple of USB charging ports, power windows, and air conditioning.
2021 Force Gurkha Specifications
Much of the mechanicals and the powertrain have been carried over from the previous Gurkha. However, the chassis as such is brand new, taking into account the newest safety regulations. The SUV continues to be powered by the Mercedes sourced 2.6L diesel unit, but the same has been reworked for lesser emissions. The Gurkha’s engine produces 91 hp and 250 Nm and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. However, Force has ditched the old Gurkha XTreme’s 140 PS unit for 2021! It continues to have a rugged 4×4 system with a low range and 3 manual diff locks. We thus expect no loss in the actual off-road capability.
2021 Force Gurkha comes with dual airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, and ISOFIX anchors.
Launch Date, Price And Deliveries
Force is expected to officially launch the Gurkha on September 27, 2021. The deliveries are known to start on October 15. The SUV will have its key rivalry from the new Mahindra Thar, the reigning champion in the lifestyle SUV space. The price could simply be the ‘make or break’ factor for this vehicle.
