2021 Maruti Celerio hosts extensive changes in design and mechanicals
Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) today launched the second generation of Maruti Celerio in the country, with ex-showroom prices starting from Rs 4.99 lakh. Celerio has been a familiar nameplate in the Indian market since 2014 and has over the years amassed massive sales numbers of around 6 lakh! The second generation comes with extensive changes gone into the design, cabin, and mechanicals.
What’s New?
The generation update brings massive changes in the Celerio. 2021 Celerio gets an all-new exterior design. Almost every bit of its exterior looks fresh. The car has grown in size and looks more mature in design. It gets a new grille design with a good-looking Chrome embellishment, new headlamps, a more imposing bonnet, slightly raked front windshield, new fog lamp housing, and reworked bumpers.
2021 Celerio also gets a new set of 15-inch alloy wheels, a revamped tail lamp design that tends to draw visual connections with those of the Baleno and the new Swift, and a tailgate design that might seem familiar to many Maruti Suzuki owners. Much as was the case with the test mule that we had spotted previously, the production-spec Celerio comes with old-school pull-type door handles.
Interior And Features
The overall design and layout of the cabin have had massive changes. The interior now looks more upmarket and neat. The dashboard, center console, and steering wheel look fresh. The top-spec Celerio comes with features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry, steering mounted audio controls, height-adjustable driver seat, climate control, and Hill-Hold Assist for the AMT. The car now offers more cabin room than before and should be more comfortable as well.
Dimensions
The second-generation Celerio is underpinned by Maruti Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform (the one that is found in multiple other nameplates like the Baleno) and is thus significantly larger in dimensions than its predecessor. 2021 Celerio is 3,695 mm long, 1,655 mm wide and 1,555 mm tall. This does reflect inside the cabin as added room.

Transmission duties will be carried out by the familiar 5-speed manual and 5 speed AMT boxes. Maruti Suzuki claims the Celerio to offer best-in-class fuel efficiency figures of 25.23 km/l on the manual and 26.68 km/l on the AMT.

Maruti Suzuki is offering a range of safety features/technologies on the new Celerio, like hill hold assist, dual airbags, ABS, EBD etc.
