Audi’s flagship luxury sedan gets a new look and more tech for 2022
Audi India has brought the new generation A8 L to the Indian shores. The sedan gets more style and technologies in its newest avatar. 2022 Audi A8 L is priced from Rs 1.29 Cr and comes in two different trims- Celebration Edition and Technology. The latter packs more features and is significantly more expensive, tagged at Rs 1.57 Cr, ex-sh.
New Audi A8 L Dimensions
The new A8L is large and roomy inside. It has just the right dimensions for a flagship luxury sedan, or a worthy rival to something like the Mercedes S Class! A8L is the long wheelbase version, and also the only one that India gets for now. Other iterations like the A8, S8, and A8 Security are not available here.

Design
Audi A8L has become sleeker in the new avatar. It looks more up-to-date with cleaner lines and smoother surfaces. Key highlights on the exterior include a wider single-frame grille with generous use of Chrome on it, stylish headlamps featuring Digital Matrix LED lights on the Technology trim (The lower Celebration variant comes with HD Matrix LEDs), OLED rear lamps with unique light signatures, and dual tone 19-inch alloy wheels. The sedan is available in a total of 8 exterior colors.
Interior And Features
The new A8L’s cabin feels plush and is packed with creature comforts and technology. There are 4 interior colors to choose from. The seats get Valcona leather upholstery and both the front and rear rows feature massage functions too. The massage system has 8 different massage programs and 3 intensity levels.
A few key features remain nearly unchanged from the previous car. The new A8L gets the familiar 10.1-inch infotainment system, 8.6-inch display for the climate control and seat functions, and the digital instrument cluster, from its predecessor. It also features a 1920 Watt, 23-speaker, Bang & Olufsen 3D surround audio system for epic entertainment experiences. Other features on offer include an air ionizer, 30-colour ambient lighting, head-up display, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, power door latching, etc.
The seating arrangement has, however, had a major change on the new car. While the previous car used to be a strict four-seater here, the new A8L can be had as 4 and 5 seaters. The Celebration is available as a five-seater while the range-topping Technology trim offers both configurations.
The Rear Executive Package adds a host of luxury features/ creature comforts targetted specifically at the rear occupants: foot massager, seat massaging and ventilation functions, recliner, dual rear entertainment screens, and a rear seat remote.
Specifications
The new A8L is powered by a 3.0L TFSI petrol engine with an integrated 48V mild hybrid technology, churning out 340 hp and 500 Nm. The sedan can do the 0-100 kph sprint in 5.7 seconds. It also features Quattro AWD, adaptive air suspension, and all-wheel steering.
Safety And Driver Aids
The new A8 LWB comes with a long list of safety features, including 8 airbags (upgradeable to 10), self-tightening seatbelts, ABS, Park Assist Plus, and ADAS.

The sedan is brought to India as CBU units, and the same is responsible for the high price tags it bears. Choosing from the umpteen personalization options offered by the Four Rings, would push it further up. But hey, think of the rivals like the Mercedes S Class or the 7 series, and the A8 would then stand lower in pricing!
