2023 BMW X5 And X6 Facelifts Unveiled!

The X5 and X6 get tasteful styling tweaks and interior revamps with the update

BMW’s current generations of X5 and X6 SUVs have just been given mid-life facelifts for 2023. Both vehicles now boast refreshed exterior designs with an optional illuminated grille and redesigned front bumpers. The X5 is available with the xLine design as standard, while X6 comes with an M Sport package. The fourth-generation X5 and third-generation X6 are assembled at BMW’s Spartanburg factory in the US.

The interior design has also been upgraded, replacing the old analogue display with a new digital one. A standout feature here is the large curved display with the latest version 8.0 of BMW iDrive, mounted atop a slightly reworked dashboard. This unit comes with a 12.3-inch instrument display and 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen. Also present is the BMW Live Cockpit Plus with cloud-based BMW Maps navigation. In addition, it boasts touch-activated air conditioning controls, a head-up display unit with augmented reality functionality, a panoramic glass sunroof, glass garnishes on various controls, and Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system…

2023 BMW X5 Specifications

The new BMW X5 is available in three powertrain configurations: a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol unit (xDrive50i), an updated 6-pot diesel (xDrive30d) and a V8 petrol (xDriveM50i). Each powertrain comes mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and gets BMW’s xDrive four-wheel drive system. The upgraded petrol engine has a maximum output of 380hp and 520Nm, while the diesel variant produces up to 298 hp and 670 Nm. These are further equipped with a 48V battery, adding an extra 12hp and 200Nm via a gearbox-mounted electric motor.

The range-topping 4.4L turbocharged V8 petrol engines on the X5 M50 xDrive and X6 M50 xDrive continue to pump out 530hp and 750 Nm. 0-100 kph comes in just 4.3 seconds.

2023 BMW X5 Hybrid (PHEV)

For those looking for increased efficiency, the new X5 xDrive50e (previously xDrive45e) comes with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain consisting of a 3.0 litre turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine and a gearbox-mounted electric motor and 25.7kWh battery, producing a combined system power of 490hp with 700Nm of torque. It delivers an electric-only range of around 94-110km on the WLTP test cycle.

The current generations of the X5 and X6 were released in India in 2019 and 2020 respectively. The facelifts are expected to launch here towards the end of this year or early next year.
