11,000 bookings have so far been recorded for the SUV, confirms Hyundai. The Exter shares its core underpinnings with the Grand i10 NIOS. The platform, engines and transmissions come from the new NIOS and Aura. There is thus a CNG engine offered, although on the S and SX trims alone. While the regular petrol variants can be had in both manual and automatic forms, the CNGs are available with manual transmissions alone.

Hyundai Exter gets a well-laid-out cabin with ample tech and features on offer. Most pieces of equipment from the i10 have been retained, alongside new bits like the integrated dash camera. The Exter has also become the first vehicle in the segment to feature a single-pane sunroof. We have talked in detail about the design, features and cabin experience of the Exter in previous articles.

Key rivals to the Exter in the Indian market include Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Maruti Ignis and the lower variants of Magnite and Kiger.
