Range-Topping Land Rover Discovery Metropolitan Edition Launched In India
Discovery Metropolitan Edition is available with both petrol and diesel powertrains
Jaguar Land Rover India has launched a new top-of-the-line Metropolitan Edition variant to the Discovery lineup in the country. The Metropolitan Edition, which had originally made its global premiere in October 2021, gets more standard equipment, and subtle-yet-tasteful design updates. With both petrol (P360) and diesel (D300) engines on offer, the ex-showroom prices of the Metropolitan Edition start at Rs 1.26 crores. Bookings are now open. The full-size discovery becomes more up-to-date with the variant rolling out, which we presume would keep the sales strong for the next 2 years or so…
Discovery Metropolitan Edition: Changes Explained
The Metropolitan Edition builds on Discovery’s global R Dynamic HSE variant, boosting its overall luxury and technology quotients. Key visual changes include Atlas-coloured accents on the grille and hood lettering, Hakuba Silver finish on the bumpers, and massive 20-inch wheels finished in satin Grey (The global counterpart gets 22 inchers though). As obvious, these design deviations would make minimal sense to the layman’s eyes, but petrolheads would definitely spot the visual dominance!
The cabin gets more evident changes than the exteriors. The equipment-array has now grown fairly in size. Features like a head-up display, heated steering wheel, 12.3-inch interactive driver display, wireless charging bay, air purification system with PM 2.5 filter, heated and power-adjustable the third row, sliding front sunroof, and fixed rear panoramic roof, front cooler compartment, and four-zone climate control are now standard. The Metropolitan Edition also features Titanium Mesh trims on its dashboard and door panels for a more luxurious cabin experience.
2023 Discovery Metropolitan Edition is available with both petrol and Diesel engines in India. The P360 grade with its 3.0L straight-six petrol engine produces 355 hp and 500 Nm, while the D300 has an output of 296 hp and 650 Nm, courtesy of its 3.0 L Ingenium diesel. The transmission on offer is an 8-speed automatic unit. The full-size Discovery is loved globally for its towing capacity, which stands at a whopping 8,200 pounds! It also gets a permanent all-wheel drive system and an electronic air suspension for added usability.
