Tata 407 CNG has low total cost of ownership as its key USP
Tata Motors has introduced a CNG-powered variant of the legendary 407 mini truck. The new variant is much greener and more economical than the previous vehicle. Tata Motors claims added profits of up to 35% over the diesel counterpart. The 407 CNG is priced from Rs 12.07 Lakh (ex. showroom, Pune) and stands highly competitive in terms of capability and total cost of ownership. With this vehicle in, Tata’s CNG-powered commercial vehicle lineup ranges from 5-16 tonnes GVW in the I & LCV segments.
Tata 407 has been an iconic model in the commercial vehicle space. It has a large fan-following in the country for its unmatched capabilities and relatively low ownership and operating costs. The vehicle comes with a 10 feet load deck offering high load capacity. The new variant draws its power from a 3.8 liter CNG engine delivering 85 PS and 285Nm. The 407 CNG is available with 5.0 tonne GVW and a 180-liter fuel tank.

The vehicle retains almost everything about the iconic ‘semi-forwards control’ cabin has extensive amounts of high-grade steel gone into its construction and is quite safe and confidence-inspiring too. It gets mobile charging points and an impressive Blaupunkt music system inside the cabin. The truck also gets Tata Motors’ signature ‘Fleet Edge’ telematics system.
The 407 has front parabolic suspension, better NVH levels, and requires reduced clutch and gear shift efforts. Tata Motors is offering 3 year/3 lakh kilometers warranty on the 407 CNG and the product as a whole seems to be much more value for money, than a corresponding diesel.
