Interesting findings from a recent consumer reports list
Gas prices have recently been on the rise in the US, and owning big, butch SUVs and trucks have become all the more expensive. A recent list by Consumer Reports reveals the top 10 vehicles that are the most expensive to gas up. The list has multiple trucks and SUVs we’d already have expected.
Top 10 most expensive vehicles to gas up
- 2024 Toyota Tundra: $118 per tank
- 2024 Ford Expedition: $102
- 2024 Chevrolet Suburban: $103
- 2024 Nissan Armada: $96
- 2024 Infiniti QX80: $96
- 2024 Nissan Titan: $96
- 2024 Ram 1500: $96
- 2024 Cadillac Escalade: $88
- 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500: $88
- 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe: $88
Interestingly, despite rolling out a smaller engine and advanced hybrid tech on the Tundra, Toyota hasn’t managed to bring sizeable cuts in the Tundra’s fuel costs, which continue to top the list, at $118 per tank!
A recent AAA study report revealed gas costs to have a national average of $3,68 a gallon, in the US. Modern cars, SUVs and trucks have surely had improvements in tech and fuel efficiency but continue to have large fuel tanks. Thus fill-up costs haven’t dropped much.
The Consumer Reports list has regular trucks and SUVs alone, that use regular fuel. It doesn’t take into account vehicles that use premium fuel, which could push the numbers further high.
So how can you save on fuel bills?
The best way to save on gas station expenses is to adopt a fuel-efficient driving style. Practising smooth acceleration and avoiding hard braking can be of help. To save on fuel further, try club stores like Sam’s Club or Costco- as they offer interesting discount programs and member benefits on fuel. Further, many gas brands also offer credit cards and similar programs that would yield you cost cuts- maybe a few cents per gallon.
