The new BMW X5 M further ups the performance SUV game !
X5 has always been a dream SUV or SAV as BMW calls it, for many of us. BMW now ups the ante with the 2020 X5 M and we are genuinely happy. The X5 M has been launched here, priced at Rs1.95cr (Ex-showroom, India), and can be booked through their online booking platform as we speak.
Powering this monster is a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 engine putting out a whopping 625hp and 750Nm. The mill comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, sending power through the BMW’s M xDrive all-wheel-drive system to all the four wheels. The 0-100kmph sprint is done in just 3.8seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph. Impressive numbers!
Adding more M-characteristics are, M-specific tune to the chassis, sits on M-specific adaptive suspension and dampers which are electronically controllable. An active roll stabilization system and ‘M’ compound brakes will further enhance the handling cues. Three driving modes on offer are — Track, Sport and Road.
A modicum of design changes for the exterior which distinguishes the leviathan X5M from the regular X5 includes, the double bar M grille finished in gloss-black, sportier front bumper with an apron, the M gills on both fenders, the iconic double-arm ORVMs, new and dynamic rear bumper, twin tailpipes and a roof-mounted spoiler. Also on offer is the staggered ‘M’ light alloy wheels 21-inch and 22-inch at the front and and back respectively.
Hopping inside, X5M gets the M specific quilted seat design, 12.3inch displays serving the infotainment and instrument cluster purposes. The usual, BMW gesture control, wireless charging pad, Harman Kardon surround sound system, a panoramic sunroof, four-zone climate control AC and etc. The optional upgrade gizmos include a rear-seat entertainment package and Bowers and Wilkins Diamond surround sound system. Speaking of the safety equipment level, the X5 M has an array of them, like cruise control with braking function, collision and pedestrian warning with city braking function, adaptive LED headlapm units, BMW Head-up-display(HUD), the list goes on.
