Ashok Leyland Showcases Two Futuristic Truck Concepts At Auto Expo 23

Ashok Leyland pavilion has several alternate fuel vehicles on display

India’s second-largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, Ashok Leyland, has presented two new state-of-the-art concept trucks at the 2023 Auto Expo. As this year marks the brand’s 75th anniversary, Ashok Leyland also unveiled a special colour-shifting logo at the Auto Expo to commemorate the occasion.

Ashok Leyland has announced a lineup of commercial vehicles, consisting of hydrogen FCEV’s, EV’s, CNG and LNG vehicles, keeping their promise of achieving carbon neutrality in the coming years.

They’ve launched the BOSS EV, which is an electric vehicle based on the ICE platform called BOSS. It is a 12-Tonne commercial vehicle with battery capacities ranging from 100-300 kW. The second one showcased at the event is a 28-Tonne Fuel Cell EV truck based on the AVTR, or Avatar as it’s pronounced, platform.

Switch Mobility Showcases The IeV Series At The 2023 Auto Expo

Switch Mobility – a UK-based subsidiary owned by Ashok Leyland – unveiled their new IeV series of electric vehicles at their maiden appearance at the biennial automotive event of India.

Switch has launched 4 new vehicles globally, they have 500 buses on the road till now, and their market share has scaled up from just 2% to 18%, globally they have driven in excess of 55 million kilometres, and has received a private order for 2,500 buses.

Now, they’re foraying into the LCV segment, up to 7.5-tonne category. They expect electric mobility to reach 100,000 by 2025 and triple by 2030. The CAGR will scale up to 33 percent in the coming times and the EV penetration is projected to reach 30% in light commercial vehicles below 7.5 tonnes.

The IeV series is said to transform the last-mile and mid-mile sector in the coming years. The series is built upon four pillars – intelligent, modular, total cost of ownership and sustainability. Switch Mobility aims to save 1 million tons of carbon emissions over the next 5 years, which is equivalent to planting 5.6 million trees.
