BMW Cars In India Are Now BS-VI Compliant! [Report]

All BMW cars produced from the carmaker’s from their plant in Chennai from now on will be BS-VI compliant. The milestone comes in with time still left for the government regulations to kick in!

BMW Group is one of India’s leading luxury car brands with models selling like cakes in almost all the luxe segments. The current portfolio of BMW cars ranges from puny SUVs like the X1 to the super luxurious 7 series, stunning Z4 and the green AF i8! What strikes the headlines now is the news of the carmaker introducing BS6 engines across its range.

Yes! With months still left for the government regulations to kick in, BMW has realized their goal of becoming the first in the segment to offer BS-VI compliant petrol products. The entire petrol portfolio has been tailored according to the BS-VI norms, while the diesels will see the conversions on a later date, and of course before the stipulated timeline.

Sources from within the company tell us that the BS-VI diesel-powered BMW 5 Series and BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo cars have already started their production at the German marque’s plant in Chennai. The hot-selling BMW x will soon have its BS6 avatar spawned as well.

Mr. Rudratej Singh, President and Chief Executive Officer, BMW Group India said, “2019 has been exciting for us as our new product portfolio has triggered remarkable traction in the luxury car market. Early start of BS VI production is a strategic call we are taking to meet the unprecedented demand for our new products. Today, BMW India customers have the choice of buying a BS VI car across the entire product portfolio. The present BMW range is extremely attractive because of its unique position with latest products, newest technology as well as superbly attractive ownership packages on limited stocks of BS IV variants.”

The aftermath of the transformation does reflect in the car prices as all the BS6 BMW cars now witness a hike of up to 6% in their ex-showroom prices. This hike would hop into play by the beginning of next year when these cars would be out on sale.

However, the latest BMW car launches in India have had an advantage here, as they are available in both the BS-IV and BS-VI guises. These BS-IV cars would soon have super attractive (or should I call them KILLER?) finance offers and price cuts on them. The latest BMW finance schemes offer you very low rate of interest, attractive EMIs, flexible loan tenure up to 7 years and BMW Service Inclusive up to ten years.
