BMW Motorrad seems to have had a great year!
It’s been a good year for BMW Motorrad India. The company has posted 100% year-on-year growth this time, selling a total of 5000 units in India. The made in India BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS have been the biggest volume drivers; both the bikes pumped in 90% of the total volumes. Other top-picked models this year were the R18 Classic, S1000 R, and M 1000 RR.
First launched in 2018, both BMW G310R and G310 GS share the same 310 cc engine developed by BMW Motorrad in collaboration with TVS Motor Company in India. G310R was developed as an entry-level sportbike, while G 310 GS was an ADV. In 2020, BMW Motorrad had considerably lowered the prices of these bikes.
BMW Group India president Vikram Pawah described the year as phenomenal while reminding that the company has withstood the turbulence in the market slogged by the Covid pandemic. The premium German motorcycle brand had recently introduced a few highly desirable motorcycles in India, including the ADV- BMW R 1250 GS. The company has also on sale, its all-new Maxi scooter- BMW C 400 GT, here.
BMW’s Financial services too has helped the company achieve these sales. BMW Motorrad is looking to launch more India-centric products in the coming years.
