The Seal looks extremely good with its coupe-like design…
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Build Your Dreams, or just BYD in abbreviated terms, has made the Indian debut of the all-new Seal sedan at the 2023 Auto Expo. This is BYD’s maiden appearance at the biennial automotive event of India. The BYD Seal is a born-electric sedan that’ll rival the hugely popular Tesla Model 3 in markets like Europe and China. Big shoes to fill!
The Seal is based on BYD’s “ocean aesthetics” design language, and inherits a plethora of design traits from the Ocean X concept vehicle that was presented back in 2021. The Seal also continues the ocean-themed nomenclature that runs in the BYD EV pedigree.
The Seal features coupe-style all-glass roof, door handles that stay flushed with the bodywork, quadruple boomerang-style LED DRLs, split headlamps, and an unbroken strip of LED for the taillamp.
On the inside, the Seal gets a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a rotating 15.6-inch central infotainment display like on the Atto 3 and e6, a head-up display, etc. The central console houses the basic controls as well as a couple of wireless charging pads.
The Seal is underpinned by BYD’s ePlatform 3.0 and uses Blade Battery Tech, which will trickle down to more EV’s in India. There are two battery packs on offer – a 61.4 kWh unit and an 82.5 kWh unit. The former offers a range of 550km, while the latter has 700km of range. The smaller battery can be charged at speeds of up to 110 kW, while the big one can be juiced at speeds of up to 150 kW.

The Seal can be had in either a single-motor or a dual-motor setup. The single motor model with the 61.4kWh battery generates 204 HP, while the same with the bigger 82.5kWh battery churns out a healthy 312 HP. The single-motor comes with a rear-wheel drive system.
The dual-motor variant can only be had with the bigger battery and comes with an all-wheel drive system. The electric motor at the front puts out 218HP and the motor at the rear wheel makes 312HP. Together, they offer 530HP under your right foot. BYD India is also showcasing the Atto 3 at the Expo.
