The compact SUV segment is gaining much heat these days and here’s a rumor suggesting Honda joining the league soon!
Recent reports on the internet suggest that Honda could be readying an apt rival for the Hyundai Venue and Vitara Brezza. The carmaker could come up with the new-gen City-based compact SUV sometime in the coming years. This vehicle could also mean an end of the road for the Honda WRV, which it would then replace.
Honda currently has the Amaze, City, Civic, and WRV in its portfolio. Though the first three have been selling decent figures all the while, the WRV has had mixed responses from the Indian buyers. Essentially based on the Honda Jazz, it had recently gotten a minor refresh as well.
The new compact SUV could be christened the Honda ZRV, as per the reports. Apparently it would slot beneath the HRV range in the global markets and could bring in massive volumes in markets like India. It is now known that the SUV would be launched first in Japan before it is made available in other markets.
Made to rival the likes of Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet and Nissan Magnite, the ZRV would most likely borrow its engines from the City sedan. Also expected is the familiar CVT with paddle shifts.
