The I Pace is Jaguar’s first all electric SUV offering globally
Jaguar Land Rover will soon launch the exciting I pace SUV in the country, confirms JLR India bossman. Rohit Suri, President and MD, Jaguar Land Rover India Limited, was addressing the media post the launch of the iconic Defender SUV, when he shed light on the marque’s future plans for India. Mr Suri stated that the next big launch for JLR India would be the Jaguar I Pace. The all electric SUV has been amassing great responses from enthusiasts all over the world ever since its inception in 2018. The car has also won a number of international recognitions over time, the 2018 European Car Of The Year, 2019 World Car Of The Year, etc to quote a few examples.
The EV ecosystem in India is currently witnessing decent developments. Thus, it would now be just the right time for Jaguar to bring in their first EV to our shores. The I Pace is one good electric SUV with a range close to 400 kilometers and a water wading depth of up to 500mm. It is powered by a 90 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack mated to an electric motor that churns out 197 hp and 350 Nm. Hopefully, these specifications would remain unchanged in the Indian iteration as well.
Jaguar India has not hinted at the exact launch date or the estimated pricing of the I Pace SUV. However, we expect the carmaker to launch it sometime in the wake of 2021.
