Made In India Jeep Wrangler Launched At INR 53.90 Lakh, Prices Down By 12 Lakh!

The made-in-India Jeep Wrangler is available in the Unlimited and Rubicon guises, much like the previous import

A few weeks past the launch of the 2021 Jeep Compass, Jeep India has now launched the locally assembled Wrangler SUV at a very interesting price. There is also a ‘Launch Edition’ of the Wrangler on sale here, celebrating 80 years of Jeep globally. The American SUV giant has set a price of INR 53.90 lakh for the 2021 Wrangler Unlimited and 57.90 lakh for the locally made Wrangler Rubicon. This essentially means price slashes of 10-12 lakh compared to the previous CBU import! The local manufacturing of the legendary off-roader follows Jeep’s 250 million USD investment in local operations.

The Wrangler is now brought out as Completely Knocked Down units (CKD) which are then assembled at the manufacturer’s Ranjangaon facility near Pune. The Wrangler is the second product to be produced here, after the Compass. The production of the Wrangler had earlier been limited to the Toledo factory in the US alone. India is the second location worldwide to produce the iconic SUV.

Talking of the SUV, the made-in-India Jeep Wrangler comes in both the Unlimited and the Rubicon versions and in five different colours- Bright White, Sting Grey, Granite Crystal, Black, and Firecracker Red. It remains mostly unchanged from the fourth generation Wrangler in terms of design, dimensions, and mechanicals. It is 4882mm long, 1894mm wide and 1848mm tall, and has a ground clearance of 217mm. However, there is now even more equipment on offer on the inside.

The cabin now comes with a UConnect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integrated into it, improved audio, and an updated instrument cluster. The SUV retains all the familiar Wrangler bits like full-framed removable doors, three-piece modular hardtop, 18-inch wheels, and a flat fold front windshield.

The mechanicals remain unchanged on the 2021 Wrangler. The powerhouse is still the familiar 2.0L four-cylinder DI petrol unit that lets out a good 268hp and 400Nm. An 8-speed automatic unit takes care of the transmission duties.

The highly capable Rubicon with Jeep’s RockTrac off road mode and a stunning crawl ratio of 77:1 now seems much more luring with its new price in place! The 760mm wading depth and approach, ramp and departure angles that are almost unbelievable, do render the Rubicon an appeal that can never be denied…

The manufacturer has set up a 1,00,000 square foot MOPAR parts distribution center at Chakan, for supplying these to the brand stores all over the nation. The Wrangler is among the most customized and personalized vehicles in the world. With the MOPAR supply center operational, India finally has access to the true ‘Jeep Life’. Just in case you are curious, Jeep India is currently offering four accessory packages to the customers- Explorer pack, night Ultra vision pack, sports pack, and essential pack.
