The MG Hector 2021 gets notable tweaks and the Hector Plus a middle bench
MG launches the Hector and Hector Plus with a modicum of upgrades. Hector Plus lineup, now gets a seven-seat variant too, with prices starting at Rs. 12.90 lakhs and Rs 13.35 lakh, respectively.
The design updates on the new Hector and Hector Plus are very minimal, including a revamped front grille up front and both get a black finish instead of the reflector strip running across the boot-lid. Both the SUVs get a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels along with new scuff plates up front and at the rear. MG has also added a new Starry Blue color to the palette.
Hopping in, MG has ditched the all-black interior, both SUVs gets a lighter Champagne-Black dual-tone finish. This indeed elevates the airy feel inside the cabin. The Hector Plus can be now had with a middle bench seat, taking the overall seating capacity to seven.
The updated car gets a couple of feature upgrades as well, The Hector and the 7 seater Hector Plus get ventilated driver and co-driver seats, wireless charging pad and auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, along with the 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car-tech, auto climate control, 360-degree surround view camera, panoramic sunroof, etc seen in the outgoing model. The coolest upgrade though is that the voice assistant can now recognize as much as 31 commands in Hinglish.
The SUVs continue to use the same powerplants as before- A 1.5L turbo-petrol producing 143hp, with or without a mild-hybrid tech, and a 2.0L diesel mill putting out 170hp. Transmission duties are done by a six-speed manual box across the range, while the non-hybrid petrol can also be had with a six-speed DCT.
While the Hector will lock horns with the Tata Harrier and the Korean heavyweights- the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, the Hector Plus will face competition from Mahindra XUV 5OO and the upcoming Tata Safari.
