Ola electric scooter will have an aggressive pricing, say sources
Days past the official unveil, the manufacturer has opened bookings for the Ola electric scooter in India. Buyers can now reserve their OLA e-scooter through the OLA Electric official website, against a payment of Rs 499. Those who make the bookings now, would get priority delivery, says OLA. The booking amount hints at the scooter having an aggressive price upon launch, something which some insiders have also confirmed. The manufacturer also assures a full refund, should you choose to change your mind.
Ola Electric Scooter: What’s Coming Your Way?
CEO Bhavish Aggarwal had recently revealed the design of the Ola electric scooter through a series of images and videos. These showed Bhavish taking the scooter for a spin on the streets of Bengaluru on a Sunday. The digital contents clearly depicted the entire design of the much awaited e-scooter. The Ola electric scooter, in the first glance, looks classy, with a beautiful blend of modern and retro design cues. No wonder the design has had multiple recognitions including the IHS Markit Innovation award at CES and the German Design Award.
The video showed a Black shade of the scooter, and a white was revealed later. However, two other interesting colourways- Pink and Blue have also been spied undisguised, recently. It seems the manufacturer has plans of adding more shades to the palette in the course of time. The OLA scooter, as evident from the video, will offer best-in-class storage. It would be large enough to accomodate two half face helmets and would also get a large TFT LCD instrumentation, app-based connected features etc for increased usability.
Though the exact specifications and powertrain details are yet to surface, what we know for sure is that the scooter will have class-leading performance and dynamics. Ola claims the battery to be capable of achieving a 50% refill through 18 minute fast charging.
Expected Price And Rivals
Ola Electric is hoped to launch the scooter soon, with prices around the 1 lakh mark. It is known to draw the maximum benefits from the recent amendments to the EV policy. Ola hopes to milk the most from states like Maharashtra, where the renewed EV policy cuts massive chunks off EV prices. Ola electric scooter will compete with the Ather 450X, TVS iQube, and the all-electric Bajaj Chetak.
