Ola Electric Scooter Taken For A Spin By CEO, Launch Nears

From what we know yet, the key competitor to the Ola electric scooter would be Ather 450X

Shared mobility major OLA had earlier let out news of its upcoming electric two-wheeler factory, which is by far the largest of its kind in the world. We had then also told you about the upcoming OLA electric scooter, which is highly anticipated by the EV enthusiasts here. Later teaser images of the same had further spiced up the expectations. Now, OLA Electric has taken the wraps off their first electric scooter, pointing at the imminent market debut. The manufacturer has released a video that shows its CEO Bhavish Aggarwal taking the OLA electric scooter for a spin in Bengaluru.

The video clearly details the design of the OLA electric scooter, which by the way, looks quite classic and suave, and shows its actual performance and acceleration as well. The OLA CEO tweeted “Goes 0-60 faster than you can read this tweet! Ready or not, a revolution is coming!”, giving an early clue of the performance of the EV, which is expected to be the benchmark in its segment.

OLA electric scooter is an in-house developed product by the manufacturer and is hoped to come with the best-in-business technologies. Though the exact specifications of the e-scooter are yet to surface, it is expected to offer a top speed of 90 km/h and a range of up to 150 km.

The scooter has all modern-day features like TFT LCD instrumentation cluster, mobile app-based new-age connected features etc. The showstopper, however, is the under-seat storage that is claimed to be the best in class. The video shows it to be roomy enough to accommodate two half-face helmets. The market debut of the e-scooter is known to commence by the end of this month and could be priced at around Rs 1 lakh. Evidently, the key rival would be Ather 450X.

Up Ahead…

OLA Electric is actively building its charging network in India and also has plans to do the same in Europe soon. The availability of charging stations at strategic locations will highly benefit its customers. OLA has plans of setting up 5,000 fast chargers across a total of 100 cities. From what we know of it yet, the OLA electric scooter will support DC fast charging whereby an 18-minute charge could replenish up to 50% of the battery. While there have recently been reports of OLA introducing battery swapping on the scooter, we have had no official confirmation on it yet.
