Royal Enfield Himalayan Gets Dual-Channel ABS!

The ABS-equipped model comes to you at a price premium of INR 11,000

The Himalayan is one such adventure motorcycle that has managed to gather a strong fanbase in India since its launch some time ago. The only thing that even the fans craved to have in this otherwise appealingly packed bike was an ABS unit. Now with Royal enfields having started getting ABS onboard, a custom that was kick started by the launch of Classic Signals 350, Himalayan seems to have gotten this add-on as well.

You need to pay around INR 11,000 more for the ABS-equipped models than the previous ones, well in keeping with the pre-launch speculations by Autocar India, who had first broken the news of the bike heading for an ABS addition. The standard variant of the Himalayan ABS bears a price tag of INR 1.78 lakhs while the Himalayan Sleet ABS comes to you at INR 1.80 Lakhs (prices are ex.showroom, Mumbai). Both motorcycles get a dual channel ABS unit.

Apart from the new ABS techie bits on board, the bike remains unchanged. It is still powered by the same 411 cc single-cylinder BS-IV fuel-injected petrol engine and has the same rugged looks, as the non-ABS bike.

The on-road pricing of this adventure tourer has had a great leap upwards as the new IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India) directive requires all new two-wheelers to be sold with a 5-year third-party insurance policy. The one-year comprehensive insurance and the mandatory five-year third-party insurance policy for the Himalayan combined, would set you back by almost INR 17,400!
