The car gets a 1.0L TSI petrol engine and a 6 speed torque converter automatic transmission
Skoda India has launched the automatic version of the Rapid sedan. The Rapid, if you might remember, is available just with a TSI turbo petrol engine. This is in accordance with VW group’s policy of ditching the diesels in the future. Priced at INR 9.49 lakh, the Rapid TSI automatic is currently the most affordable automatic in its segment.
The new Rapid is powered by a 999cc, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that lets out 110 hp and 175 Nm. The six-speed torque converter automatic box offers a ‘fun to drive’ experience with class-leading torque output. This engine-gearbox combo offers a fuel efficiency of 16.24 kmpl. This is indeed a step up from the older 1.6 MPI unit.

The Rapid had made its debut back in 2011, as the carmaker’s first model into the C segment. The facelifted model that is currently on sale in India is in good demand these days. The Rapid Rider is essentially Skoda’s most selling model in India today.
