Tata Motors’ year-on-year sales soar, backed by stronger ICE, EV sales
Tata Motors registered a 27% year-on-year growth in February 2022, as the Indian manufacturer sold 77,733 units spread across domestic and international markets, compared to the 61,258 mark in the same month last year. In the domestic market alone, Tata Motors sold 73,875 units in February 2022 against 58,366 units in Feb 2021.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles
As far as the domestic passenger vehicle business is concerned, Tata Motors sold 37,135 ICE vehicles in February 2022, against 26,733 units in the same month last year, registering a growth of 39%. But it was Tata Motors’ EV arm that turned the game in their favor, as the vertical sold 2,846 units this February, compared to 492 units in 2021, recorded a massive 478% growth. With the two nameplates- Nexon EV and Tigor EV, the sales escalated unbelievably last month. Total passenger vehicle sales reached 39,981 units in February 2022, recording a 47% Y-o-Y rise.

Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles
In the commercial vehicles vertical, M&HCVs dominated with 10,233 units sold in February 2022, against the 8,664 units of February 2021. The I&LCV segments fell with 5,599 units sold in February 2022, against 5,624 units in the same month last year. Passenger Carriers have grown by 41%, selling 1,759 units in February 2022.
SCV cargo and pickup offerings made the most sales with 16,303 units, growing 4% to beat the 15,606 units mark of February 2021. Pitting M-o-M, in January the total sales of commercial vehicles had stood at 35,268. CV exports grew 35% to 3,658 units in February 2022, compared to the 2,718 units last year.
