Toyota CHR Mule Spotted Testing Again ! [Spy Shots]

The Toyota CHR subcompact crossover is expected to hit the Indian market in mid-2020. We recently spotted a heavily camouflaged mule undergoing tests in Bangalore, here’s more about it…

This is no new thing, to be honest. The Toyota C-HR has been testing in India for quite some time now. In fact, the sub-compact crossover was first spotted here in July 2018, and there have been several speculations ever since of its imminent market debut. We recently happened to spot a heavily camouflaged mule being tested on an airstrip in Karnataka. Let’s tell you a bit more about it here…

The C-HR is built on the all-new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform from the automaker. As evident from the mule, the design of the Indian spec car would be as radical as the global model. The spy pictures, that were captured quite arduously, show very little details of the body lines. But the tail lamps and alloy wheels have been exposed to fair bits. The car was undergoing extensive testing of its cruise control on an airstrip in Bangalore, when we happened to capture it.

The Toyota CHR gets a number of engines globally. There are a 2.0L four-cylinder petrol and 1.8L four-cylinder petrol hybrid on offer abroad. India might, however, get just the petrol hybrid out of these.

The India launch might follow the launch of the new Toyota Corolla towards mid-2020s. The vehicle would mostly come with just the 2WD option and would go against all the popular small SUVs in the country.
