Volkswagen India has launched the Tiguan Allspace at a price of INR 33.12 lakh (ex-showroom pan India). Showcased at the Auto Expo 2020, the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace comes as an extended-wheelbase version of the Volkswagen Tiguan with an added wheelbase of around 110 mm and in a 7-seater layout, in contrast to its 5-seater counterpart.
Tiguan Allspace comes with a revamped front bumper, grille and LED headlamps along with a set of 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. A slightly enlarged rear spoiler, redesigned rear bumper with a glossy black finish for the underbody cladding and horizontal exhaust ports are the changes to be noticed on the exterior.
The Tiguan Allspace has a sufficiently spacious cabin with a panoramic sunroof to add up the sense of space further. The cabin is elegantly furnished in Vienna leather and has a completely digitalized cockpit. A start-stop system, drive mode selector, paddle shifters, touchscreen infotainment system, electric parking brake, electric tail-gate are the salient features. The vehicle comes with a three-zone climatronic AC which permits the passengers in each row to choose a suitable temperature for them.
And up the safety front, Tiguan Allspace comes with seven airbags, ABS with EBD,tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, ESP, park assist, reverse parking camera, Hill Descent Control (HDC), tyre pressure monitor and seat-belt reminder. An ample boot space of 340 L is also offered which can further be increased to 1274 litres by folding the second and third rows.
A BS6 compliant 2.0 L petrol variant of Tiguan Allspace is offered for the Indian market for now, which churns out a maximum power of 187 bhp and a 320 Nm torque. The four-cylinder petrol motor is mated to a 7-speed DSG and a 4 – MOTION drivetrain to provide the best traction. Volkswagen has chosen to give up on the diesels for now.
Tiguan Allspace is available in seven colours including Pure White, Petroleum Blue, Ruby Red, Habanero Orange, Deep Black Pearl, Platinum Grey and Pyrit Silver and is set to rival the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4 and the Ford Endeavour.
