2020 Ford Mustang Mach E Surfaces, Is A Gorgeous All Electric SUV With An Epic 300 Miles Range ! [Bookings Open Now]

The 2020 Ford Mustang Mach E SUV becomes the American marque’s first all-electric offering and claims to have a 300 miles range as well!

This is what we have been waiting for! The LA Auto Show 2019 has now spawned up one of the much sought after models- the Ford Mustang Mach-E! Essentially an all-electric ‘Mustang SUV’, the Mach-E is the first addition to the Mustang lineup over the past 55 years. The EV was introduced to the excited crowds here by actor Idris Elba, who seems to have been immensely impressed by the vehicle

“At the first-ever Detroit auto show, Henry Ford said he was working on something that would strike like forked lightning,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company. “That was the Model T. Today, the Ford Motor Company is proud to unveil a car that strikes like forked lightning all over again. The all-new, all-electric Mustang Mach-E. It’s fast. It’s fun. It’s freedom. For a new generation of Mustang owners.”

The model T, if you might remember, was the world’s first model to feature a ladder on frame chassis. The American giant’s entire point is that revolutionary bits like these have always been their cups of coffee!

Ford Motor Company claims that the Mach E Mustang has been designed and developed with the contemporary customer demands and needs in mind. No wonder the vehicle is as sleek, stylish, and aesthetically extravagant as the 2020 Ford Mustang Fastback.

Getting Up Close With the 2020 Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV!

Design:

The crossover SUV is evidently inspired a fair bit by the design philosophy of the 2020 Ford Mustang Fastback. The overall silhouette can instantly be recognised as that of a Mustang. The only change one would feel in the profile would be that of a tail that has been chopped off to make an ‘SUV’. Of course, the stance has also grown higher as well.

Signature elements like the long, powerful hood, rear haunch design, the aggressive-looking headlamps, and the ‘Tri-bar tail lamps’ have all been carried over from the regular Ford Mustang fastback. The absence of the gasoline engine has provided for a drainable trunk storage upfront that is good to give you a massive 4.8 cubic feet of space.

Quoting Ron Heiser, Ford Mustang Mach-E chief program engineer hereby: “Thanks to advances in battery technology, the Mustang Mach-E is the kind of car that gets people excited about driving, with a sporty, beautiful silhouette that delivers an incredible shape rarely seen in SUVs,”

Cabin:

The cabin of the Ford Mustang Mach E SUV too is highly futuristic and immensely stylish. The first thing to strike your eye inside would be the longitudinally mounted GIANT 15.5 touchscreen interface that hosts the carmaker’s newest next-generation SYNC communications and entertainment system. This sleek and modern screen definitely reminds one of the ones found in various Tesla models of the day.

The newest generation of SYNC makes for a highly futuristic and technically advanced interface with even the provision of touch, swipe and pinch controls. To put it simpler, you get a Giant Smartphone fitted to the dash of the electric Mustang SUV, that would let you deal with the car the way you deal with your smartphone gallery or WhatsApp!

“Next-generation SYNC actively starts adapting to you as soon as you start using it, quickly learning your preferences and making personalized suggestions,” said Darren Palmer, Ford global director for battery electric vehicles. “It can suggest going to the gym if it learns Mondays are workout days or calling home if you do that every day after work. The result is a cloud-connected assistant and interface that’s intuitive, beautiful and ready for the future thanks to fast over-the-air updates.”

The newest version of SYNC also supports ‘over-the-air updates’ for enhancing vehicle performance, timely maintenance updates, and even stuffing in new features to the vehicle.

The Mach E Mustang has been designed to seat five adults comfortably. The absence of the regular powertrain components and the wise act of mounting the battery pack in the underbody have all rendered more room in the cabin. There is plenty of storage room, 4.8 cubic ft upfront and around 29 cubic ft at the rear to be precise. Fold down the rear seats, and you could take this count all the way to 59.6 cubic feet!

There are many interesting bits inside the Ford Mach E, like the super-premium Bang & Olufsen speakers beautifully integrated into the dash that boasts of a floating design theme and the vast panoramic fixed glass roof that houses infrared repelling coating for better cooling of the cabin, the provision that allows you to use your mobile phone as a key to start the car, etc.

Power House:

Coming to the powerhouse, the Mustang Mach E is, as mentioned before, an all-electric offering. It is, in fact, the first all-electric offering from Ford. The SUV is available in both the standard range and the extended range guises.

While the standard range version comes with a 75.7 kWh Lithium-ion battery (around 288 Li-ion cells), the extended range guise gets a 98.8 kWh battery pack consisting of 376 Li-ion cells, that is good to deliver an epic 300 miles range! The batteries have been mounted on the floor and between the axles and are liquid-cooled as well.

The Mustang Mach-E would be offered in a number of variants. There would be rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models, all but powered by permanent magnet motors. The AWD model would have close to 332 HP and 417 lb-ft.

There would also be two special performance versions to the Mach-E. The Ford Mach E GT would be able to do the 0-60 sprint in under 4 seconds! Yes, that is definitely faster than a Porsche Macan Turbo! The GT performance edition would be tryna chase the Porsche 911 GTS down with its mid 3 seconds 0-60 time! Both the GTs would have around 342 kW (459 horses) and 612 lb-ft on tap!

“The Mustang Mach-E wholeheartedly rejects the notion that electric vehicles are only good at reducing gas consumption,” said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford’s chief product development and purchasing officer. “People want a car that’s thrilling to drive, that looks gorgeous and that can easily adapt to their lifestyle – and the Mustang Mach-E delivers all of this in unmatched style.”

A limited first edition of the car would have the extended range battery pack mated to the AWD system and the usual race-ready outfit consisting of red-painted brake callipers and metal pedal covers, contrast-stitched seats, scuff plate marked First Edition etc.

How Do You Get Your Charging Done?

Well, you could do 80% of it at home! There is also this provision by the manufacturer that allows you to charge on a 240V outlet, giving you around 32 miles for every charging hour, based on extended range, RWD configuration! The mobile charger would give you in the range of 22 miles per charging hour on a 240V point. Ford would have the sockets installed at your home through a team-up with Amazon Home. With the Mach E Ford customers can have access to the FordPass Charging Network as well.

How Can You Book Yours?

Well, the deliveries are expected to start in spring 2020, and the carmaker has already opened reservations for the car. You can reserve yours through the Ford Official website by paying a sum of $500.
