The new Maruti Baleno facelift launch is around the corner and here’s everything we know of it yet
Maruti Suzuki is readying to launch the 2022 Baleno facelift in a couple of days. The popular nameplate is about to get a number of significant updates with the facelift, and hopefully a proportional revision in pricing as well. Maruti Suzuki has not officially revealed the complete details of the new Baleno, but we do know the following about it.
Expect Major Styling Tweaks
The new Baleno would have a thoroughly revised exterior styling and cabin layout, and the same have been leaked online through a set of images. As the images suggest, the new car would have revamped wraparound headlamps with new LED DRLs. These would have projector setups inside and would be LEDs in the top-spec variant. The reworked front bumper would house larger fog lamp housings and the grille will have tweaks as well. The bonnet would ditch the clamshell design and be flatter on the new car.
The side view would be more or less the same as the outgoing car. The only changes to spot on the profile would be on the Chrome garnish and the wheels. The rear would have a new ‘C’ design for the LED taillamps, bolder Chrome strip, and a new bumper.
Variants And Colours
The new Baleno will be available in a total of six colors and four variants. The available colors are Pearl Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Celestial Blue, Opulent Red, and Luxe Beige. The trim levels would be Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. Alpha would obviously be feature-loaded.
Expected Features
The new Baleno’s interior would get a major design revamp. The cabin would have visual similarities to the interior of the global S-Cross in many places. It would use more premium materials, trims, and colors. The Baleno facelift will have Suzuki’s new 3 spoke steering wheel, a large 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four-speaker audio, new switchgear for climate control, a new instrument cluster, rear AC vents, 60:40 seats at the rear, and reworked front seats. Shocking news, however, is that Suzuki will offer a 360-degree camera and Heads Up Display (HUD) on the new Baleno!
Engine And Specifications
The new Baleno will get just the K12N petrol engine from the manufacturer. The 1.2L engine will feature variable valve timing, and the auto start/stop function via an integrated starter generator. The latest reports suggest that there would be no mild hybrid system (SHVS) on offer on the new car. Maruti Suzuki will offer the 5-speed manual and 5 speed AMT transmissions (bye-bye to the previous CVT) on the Baleno 2022.

Safer Altogether!
The new Baleno is claimed to offer significantly improved safety levels. Safety is something that the car has always been criticized for, and the same is hoped to be addressed well in the facelift. The updated hatchback will have safety features like 6 airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, ABS, EBD, ISOFIX mounts and a speed alert system. The overall build quality is also expected to improve on the new car.
Launch Date And Possible Pricing
Maruti Suzuki will launch the facelifted Baleno hatchback on February 23, 2022. With all these changes in place, the prices are expected to go up slightly and could fall in the 6.5-10.5 lakh bracket (estimated, actual prices might vary). The key competition would come from the new Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz, and VW Polo.
