Maruti Brezza gets key styling changes and more equipment for 2022

Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Brezza in India, with prices starting from Rs 7.99 lakh. The hugely popular SUV from the Indo-Japanese manufacturer gets a bunch of key styling tweaks and feature additions for 2022. The prices go up to 13.69 lakh (ex-showroom) for the fully specced automatics. Here are all that you should be knowing about it.

No more a Vitara!

Maruti Brezza 2022 has ditched the ‘Vitara’ part from its name. When it was first introduced in 2016, it was called the Vitara Brezza in a deliberate attempt to draw emotional connections with Suzuki’s legendary SUV nameplate, so that the compact SUV gets a smooth start here. However, in the 2022 facelift, Brezza lets go of this and is now called just ‘Maruti Brezza’.

Design

The facelifted Brezza comes with some serious restyling. The hood now stands taller and sharper, the LED projector headlamps look handsome and get integrated LED DRLs, the grille has been restyled, and gets a gunmetal finish gelled with U-shaped Chrome elements. The front bumper is new and gets fresh-looking fog lamps and air intakes.

The silhouette looks clean and bold with loud body cladding and wheel arches. The new SUV rides on 16-inch wheels. Key design highlights at the rear include a new bumper with faux skid plates, good-looking wraparound LED tail lamps, and an integrated spoiler.

The color palette has been revised on the new Suzuki Brezza. It is now available in a choice of 6 mono-tone and 3 dual-tone colors. Maruti Suzuki has also introduced two accessory packages for the new Brezza- Terrascape and Metroscape.

Terrascape package gives the SUV front and rear bumper garnishes, side cladding, rear spoiler extender, and rear garnishes. Metroscape on the other hand, offers bumper garnish of a different design, side moulding, fog lamp garnishes, window frame kit, and wheel arch accents.

Interior And Feature Upgrades

Maruti Suzuki has reworked the Brezza’s cabin quite a bit. It gets a new, more appealing Black-Rich Brown dual-tone theme, different from the pre-facelift car’s rather dull color theme. It has a fresh-looking layered dashboard and center console. New Maruti Brezza gets a lot of feature additions too. Key features on the new car include ambient lighting, a floating 9-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with Smartplay Pro+, Apple Carplay, Android Auto, and voice assist, wireless charger, HUD, 360-degree camera, and a sunroof ( This is the first of Maruti cars to get a sunroof in India)

There is also Suzuki Connect telematics on offer, featuring over 40 connected services. Other features on offer include rear AC vents, cooled glovebox, follow me home headlamps, rear USB ports, climate control, etc.

New Brezza Specifications

The new Brezza is also based on the global C platform. It is powered by the refreshed K15C mild-hybrid petrol engine (that also finds its place under the hoods of the new Ertiga and XL6). The 1.5L engine produces 103PS and 136.8 Nm and offers heartwarming fuel economy (up to 20 kpl!) with Dualjet and mild hybrid technologies. There are 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions on offer. (The old 4-speed auto has finally been replaced with a more efficient 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, that also features paddle shifters!)

2022 Brezza Safety

The safety package on the Brezza facelift includes 6 airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, ABS, reverse parking sensors, high-speed alert, ISOFIX mounts, etc. The SUV already has a good reputation in safety, courtesy of the 4-star GNCAP rating of the pre-facelift car. The same is expected to go up on the new model.
