Mahindra’s planned launches include two BEVs as well!
Mahindra and Mahindra, as disclosed through a previous media statement, has the vision of becoming India’s prime SUV manufacturer. The product plans and the expected timeframes of the upcoming Mahindra cars in India have now surfaced. As per the latest reports, Mahindra has plans of launching as many as 9 new products by 2026. The company’s future portfolio includes Body On Frame SUVs, monocoque SUVs and BEVs.
Mahindra XUV700 Will Come First
The XUV700 will be the first launch from Mahindra. The W601 based SUV, going by the name XUV700, will replace the previous XUV500. With the likes of Creta, upcoming Alcazar, Tata Safari and Nissan Kicks as its rivals, the XUV700 will have a highly attractive equipment array, comprising the likes of a panoramic sunroof, large infotainment unit, fully digital instrument cluster etc. The XUV700 will also be equipped with ADAS, a first for any Mahindra yet.
The XUV700 will be underpinned by Mahindra’s all new global SUV platform- W601 and will share its engines and transmissions with the Mahindra Thar. However, the 2.2L diesel and 2.0L turbocharged petrol engines will be tuned to produce more power and torque on the new car. The new Mahindra XUV700 will be launched later this year, probably in October.
8 More Launches After The XUV700!
The recently launched Mahindra Thar has been in huge demand since its debut. The 3-door off-roader SUV is hoped to get a 5 door guise soon. The Mahindra Thar 5 door is expected to launch sometime during 2023-26. Mahindra is also expected to launch the next generation Bolero during this period.
The popular Mahindra Scorpio is also known to be getting a generation update soon. The all-new Scorpio has been undergoing rigorous testing for over a year now! This vehicle is the third and the last Body-on-frame product known to be in the pipelines for India.
The upcoming monocoque offerings include the W620 SUV , which could be an SUV coupe- inspired by the Mahindra Aero concept and could be called XUV900 upon launch, V201 and the all new XUV300, in addition to the XUV700.
75% Of The Line-up Will Be Electrified!
As much as 75% of the future Mahindra lineup are expected to have electrification gone into them. There will be mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) from the manufacturer, in the years to come. In the 2025-26 timespan, Mahindra would launch two of its EVs, currently called EV1 and EV2 internally, which would have dedicated EV platforms.
