What’s New In The MG ZS EV Facelift?
MG ZS EV gets a thorough overhaul for 2022. The facelift gets major exterior styling tweaks. The new ZS gets the manufacturer’s new-age design cues and looks modern. It gets the new electric vehicle grille design with a neatly integrated charging port, refreshed full LED headlamps, LED tail lamps with much resemblance to the Astor, reworked bumpers, new dual-tone 17-inch Tomohawk alloy wheels, stronger character lines on the sides, neat claddings, and a pair of Grey roof rails. 2022 ZS EV also features a revised color palette of four nice shades: Ferris White, Currant Red, Ashen Silver, and Sable Black.
The interior has been revisited tastefully on the new ZS EV. More features have been added to the SUV, making the cabin experience even more luxurious and relaxing. The 2022 iteration of the popular MG electric car gets the likes of a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, digital Bluetooth key, Rear Drive Assist, 360 Degree camera, iSMART with over 75 connected car functions, hill descent control, five USB ports, 10.1-inch infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six-speaker audio, power-adjustable driver seat, auto-folding ORVMs, cruise control, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, launch control, KERS, and a set of advanced ADAS features. The seats get premium leatherette upholstery and are claimed to be absolutely comfortable.
Powertrain Upgrades: Bigger Battery, More Power, More Range!
Yes! 2022 MG ZS EV gets a major battery upgrade. In place of the previous 44.5 kWh battery pack, the new car gets a significantly larger 50.3 kWh unit providing for a notable hike in range and abilities. Mated to this is a new 8-layer hair-pin electric motor that can produce a handsome 176 hp! The previous iteration of MG ZS had just 143 hp on offer, for a quick reference.
The new ZS EV is claimed to do the 0-100 kph run in just 8.5 seconds. With the new battery in place, the vehicle will return ranges of up to 461 kilometres per charge. This is a fair premium over the 2021 ZS EV’s 419-kilometre range. The new car is also claimed to have improved fairly on the charging time as well.

The Road Ahead
MG ZS EV facelift does have a (justifiable) premium in pricing over the car it replaces. However, the EV game in its segment is about to get hotter in the days ahead. Newer versions of its existing rivals and all-new EVs will soon make their premieres into this space with comparable prices. Tata Nexon EV, the current best seller in the BEV space is known to get a major battery upgrade in the days ahead when it could be priced comparable to the new ZS EV, as both are eyeing to offer comparable performance levels and range figures. Hyundai Kona is also known to get a major facelift in India soon, raising the heat further. In the coming years, a number of electric vehicles are also expected from other auto majors like Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki/Toyota…
