ICEs, hybrids and EVs- December is gonna be fun!
Looks like this year is going to end really well. A number of interesting cars are lined up for launch in December. Here are four upcoming cars from BMW and Mercedes Benz that you’d be able to buy/ book next month.
BMW X7
The heavily updated BMW X7 facelift is expected to launch on December 10. The model was unveiled globally in April this year and comes with a revised front fascia and the brand’s new split headlamp design. The interior has also undergone serious changes, and now hosts a large 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster. It will have the latest iDrive 8 software, previously seen on the iX and i4.
The X7 will come in two trims: xDrive 40i and xDrive 30d. The 40i will get an inline 6 petrol engine, producing 380hp, while the 30d gets a 352hp, inline 6-cylinder diesel engine. Both engines will be mated to an 8AT gearbox and will have a 48V mild-hybrid tech incorporated into them. AWD will be standard.
BMW XM
Another speculated December launch from BMW, the XM is the first M model with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Its powertrain consists of a 4.4L, twin-turbo V8 engine producing 483hp and a 194hp electric motor. The combined output amounts to 653hp and 800Nm. An 8 AT gearbox is offered alongside AWD. The EV-only range would be around 80 km. BMW XM is almost similar to the X7 in its dimensions.
An illuminated grille, split headlamp set-up, and vertically stacked exhaust outlets are the main exterior highlights. The cabin retains the familiar BMW design, but with prominent M badgings. A comfortable and luxurious rear seat is to be expected. Like the X7, the vehicle will also come with iDrive 8 cockpit engine. A wide range of driver assistance systems will also be included in the XM.
Mercedes-Benz EQB
After the launch of EQS and EQC in India, Mercedes Benz is about to launch its all-new electric SUV- Merc EQB, in December. It will be the first 7-seater electric Mercedes in India. It is expected that the EQB will also be the most affordable luxury electric car from Mercedes, courtesy of its local assembly in Chakan. The new model would come in two trims: EQB 300 and EQB 350. The EQB300 is powered by a 228 HP dual-motor powertrain while the EQB 350 gets a 292 HP dual-motor setup, both ensuring power to all 4 wheels.

According to Mercedes Benz, EQB is capable of reaching a top speed of 210 kmph and 0-100 kph is done in 6 seconds. Equipped with a 66 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that sits under the seats, Mercedes EQB claims to have a range of more than 400 km on a single charge. An 11 kW AC and 100 kW DC fast charging would be available. Mercedes Benz India claims that it will take just 32 minutes to recharge to 80% on a DC charger.

Mercedes-Benz GLB
Mercedes Benz is all set to launch its global SUV nameplate GLB in the Indian market on December 2. It is the second 7-seater car from the manufacturer after the GLS. In fact, the SUV is often referred to as the Mini GLS and would be offered in three variants, 220d 4matic, 220d and 200. Both the 220d variants will be powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder diesel engine producing 180BHP and 400 nm. GLB200 would come with a 161 BHP, 1.3 L petrol engine which produces 250Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Only the top-spec diesel variant will get AWD. Other major features would include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with voice command, sliding dual-row seats and a panoramic sunroof.
